For anyone who’s ever wondered what their neighborhood looked like a half century or more ago, now the answer is virtually at their fingertips.


Historical aerial photographs of Douglas County are now available to the public on Google Earth, courtesy of archivists at the Douglas County History Research Center, a service of Douglas County Libraries.

A Spiffier Look for our Website

We've made some major upgrades to the software that runs our website. We've spiffed up the front page.  We hope these changes will improve your online library experience. Here are some of the improvements:

    * We've added navigation aids in the footer at the bottom of the page.
    * The button for downloadable e-books, audio books and music will be called Downloadables instead of eMedia2Go.

Job Applications Go Paperless!

Go Green Logo DCL is pleased to announce the implementation of a paperless job application system effective April 1, 2010. Job Applications will now only be accepted through the DCL online system for current posted openings.

Haiku it! Contest winners announced

We received so many wonderful poems it was hard to choose just a few to share on our website. Of course, everyone who realizes the value of public libraries is a winner!

Douglas County Libraries improves WiFi service

Douglas County Libraries has dramatically improved coverage on its public wireless networks at all of its locations.

Robert Morris Joins Library Board

Appointed by the Douglas County Commissioners on May 18, Robert Morris of Parker is the newest member of the Douglas County Libraries Board of Trustees. Morris will complete departing board member Stevan Strain’s term, and will be up for reappointment in January 2011. He will also serve on the Board Finance Committee.

People have found adventure in our books for years. Now we're bringing you a new kind of adventure!

Douglas County Libraries now offers library card holders Adventure Pass: free passes to The Wildlife Experience. You may reserve and print passes from your own computer up to 30 days before your visit. Six passes are available for each day; each pass allows six individuals into the museum, $2 off admission to the Extreme Screen Theater, and 10% off purchases in the café and gift shop.

Doing Business With DCL

Douglas County Libraries has joined the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing system. The Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing system is an on-line notification system that is being utilized by multiple agencies within the State of Colorado. Participating agencies post their bids, quotes, proposals, addendums and awards on this one centralized system.

Castle Pines Community Succeeds in Raising Money for Library

The citizens’ goal to raise $50,000 this year to support the opening of the Castle Pines Library is now a reality. Robert C. Sullivan M.D., a Castle Pines resident, recently donated $25,000 to the Douglas County Libraries Foundation, with $10,000 dedicated for the new Castle Pines Library. All future donations for the library will go towards operational expenses, equipment, furnishings and/or other materials not included in the opening budget.
