Douglas County Libraries Assist Veterans with Benefits

ALA Vets LogoIn coordination with the American Association of Libraries (ALA), Douglas County Libraries is reaching out to local veterans and their families to help them understand new educational benefits available under the post-9/11 GI Bill which takes effect August 1, 2009.

The ALA in conjunction with the American Legion, the National Military Family Association, the American Council on Education and the National Association of Federally Impacted Schools, has created a Helpful Webpage to help Vets locate current information; the information located here by no means is the only applicable information available.

While there are many groups that are providing information to veterans, military personnel and families, the only official material is created by the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs (V.A.). If what you are attempting to find is not here, please contact your local library for help.

Douglas County Libraries is one of many library districts across the country offering resources to help explain the confusing array of veteran’s benefits that become available next year. Just stop by one of our branches and ask for a reference librarian.

The Douglas County Office of Veteran's Affairs is also always available to help.
