The Epic Lit Book Club explores science fiction, fantasy, and speculative fiction. This lively group meets the second Wednesday of each month at Philip S. Miller Library in Castle Rock at 7 p.m. No registration required; Drop-ins welcome.

Great Books Discussions

Douglas County Libraries currently sponsors Great Books Discussion Groups at four libraries.

More than fifty years ago, the Great Books Movement started at the University of Chicago with the idea that ordinary people could meet and discuss the enduring ideas and issues found in classic writings. The Great Books Foundation promotes reading and conversation about great literature through discussion groups.

High School Book Club

Meets at 5:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month (right after Teen Interest Council!).

Sign up in the Aloha Teen Tower and get a members-only copy of each book. Then join us to play games, have snacks and talk.

Junior Page Turners--Philip S. Miller

Meets the second Thursday of every other month at 4:45 p.m. Kids in first through third grades read and discuss a book and make a theme-related craft. Snacks provided.

Join us as we read Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. Two young girls' lives in Copenhagen in 1943 are filled with school, food shortages, and Nazi soldiers marching through town. When the Jews of Denmark are "relocated," one girl moves in with the other and pretends to be one of the family. Can the family save her life? Come read with us and find out!

Join our Romance Readers Book Club. Meets the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Reservations are preferred, but drop-ins are welcome. Bring yourself and a friend.

Evening eclectic reading group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. Selections from fiction and non-fiction, poetry too!
